P. 131f. note 3, add : In the Saṃkha-Jātaka (No. 442) and the Mahājanaka-Jātaka (No. 539) we meet with a goddess of the sea, Maṇimekhalā, who saves shipwrecked seafarers. This goddess has a temple in Kāñchī (near Madras). See S. *Lévi* in Ind. Hist. Qu. 6, 1930, 597 ff.
