It is further explicitly stated that good poetry can be composed equally well in Sanskrit, in Prākrit, or in Apabhraṁśa (a literary dialect or a spoken idiom). In fact Indian poets have successfuly employed kāvya style for both Prākrit and Sanskrit poetry. The same writers have sometimes expressed themselves with equal facility in Sanskrit as well as in Prākrit. In general, the same rules are valid both for Prākrit and Sanskrit kāvya, at least by imitation¹.
