³ It is not correct to speak about a "Śataka lyric" or about "Centurian poetry" (see Simon, loc. cit p. 1f.; Pischel, KG., p. 204). Since such a work is not characteristically composed of hundred stanzas there are poetical works with a smaller or greater number of strophes in them; but they are poems written insingle stanzas.
