Similar to the Nītiśataka of Bhartṛhari is the Bhallaṭaśataka³ of the Kashmirian poet Bhallaṭa, who lived under King Śaṅkaravarman (883-902)⁴. The stanzas are composed in different metres. As an example an allegorical stanza is quoted below with translation:
