Only a few words are necessary in connection with the future development of the Strīdhana law. All the categories included in Strīdhana by Hindu jurists have been recognised by modern courts. They however hold that the property, which the widow inherits from her husband, is not Strīdhana in the technical sense, and that she cannot therefore dispose of it at her own free will. How far the law should be changed in this respect will be considered in the next chapter, where the widow's right of inheritance will be discussed in detail.
