³ Compare Thomas E., 249-250 for this inscription on the coin of Muhammad Tughluq and the clever use he wanted to make of this popular though fabricated Tradition, in passing his brass coins for silver : compare also Burn, 8. It is wrong, however, to suppose that it is an injunction of the Qur’an. The fact that this saying cannot be traced in any authentic book of Traditions, lends the strongest support to the view that it was a fabrication.
