⁴ The actual text is : لولا السلطان لأكل الناس بعضهم بعضا Edward Thomas (vide Appendix, Plate IV) has given a slightly wrong rendering of the legend on the coin though the text as shown in the coin cannot be rendered differently from what I have given. He renders the legend as follows : ‘Sovereignty is not conferred upon every man (but) some (are placed over) others.’
