¹ Compare the account of Ibn Batuta, K.R., I, 199-200. The people of Azaq exported horses to India in droves of 6,000 or thereabout. Various merchants had a share of about 200 horses each in these herds. For each fifty horses, they engaged the services of a keeper called Qashi who looked after them and their feeding on the way.
