¹ Compare how recently the Muslim drawers have been adopted by Hindu women in the Punjab. *Vide* I.G.I., XX, 293. Other dresses are more or less the same as at an earlier period, for instance, the loose skirt (*lahanga*) is used by upper class ladies of Rajputana (*vide* Tod, II, 758-9, 1253-4); the *sari* is universally worn in Bengal and Bombay (I.F.I., XXIV, 174, XX, 293). Among masculine garments, the *dhoti* and the turban (both large and small) are universally used. Compare also Grierson, Bihar Peasant Life, 147-9 for the names of dresses still in use.
