Bhaṭṭasvāmin, the celebrated commentator of the Arthaśāstra, quotes a verse in which Strīrājya forms one of the countries which contained mines of precious stones.³ This verse has not been located as yet but it shows at least that in India Strīrājya was looked upon as an actual country and not as a mere mythical land.
