The Viṭa then moves on and sees a person coming from the house of Simhalika Mayurasena (a courtesan from Ceylon). The man's shoulders are covered with an *uttariya* and he is surrounded by bodyguards from the south. They are armed with naked swords. The *uttariya* is made of printed muslin and his arrows had been fashioned in Andhradesha His body is smeared with saffron and he holds a *pan*. When he comes closer the Viṭa recognizes him. He is Harishudra, a highly placed police officer and an inhabitant of Vidarbha. He has fallen in love with Kaverika and his mistress Mayurasena threatens to leave him. He tells the Viṭa that he has managed to placate her.
