Here the author shows how he follows the principles of diplomacy enunciated by the master-politician. This verse is again instructive in the sense that it refers to Rākṣasa, a prominent character of the Mudrārākṣasa. Professor Tawney’s¹ view that the Mudrārākṣasa is anterior to the Pañcatantra seems to be the correct hypothesis.
