(ii) The *Upādhyāyanirapekṣaṭikā* on the *Kāmandakinitisāra*³ designates the *Arthaśāstra* as *Kauṭalyabhāṣya*⁴; and what is more remarkable, it calls the author of the *Kāmasūtra*, *asmadguru*, identifying thus Vātsyāyana with Kauṭalya.
