It is further prohibited to fight those who do not offer to fight, who hide themselves in fear or who go to the field as spectators.⁹³ The great war at Kurukṣetra affords ample proof that spectators were admitted into the battle-field during the scene of action, and they were not injured or otherwise harmed.
