¹ Both the expressions are connected closely with each other in the passage in question, a fact which Rouse in his translation (Cambridge, 1895, p. 251) has left unnoticed. Likewise, by each of the expressions purohito brâhmaṇo, rajjugâhako amacco, doṇamâpako mahâmatto, nagarasobhaṇâ vaṇṇadasi only one person is denoted, as appears from the verse which follows.
