¹ *Râjabhogga* is explained in the Suttavibhaṅga, Nissaggiya 10-2-1 (Vinaya Piṭaka ed. Oldenburg, Vol. 3, p. 222) as “one who receives livelihood and money” (*yo koci rañño bhattavetaṇahâro*). A similar idea is expressed by *râjabhata* (Mahavagga, I. 40. 3 sq.; 66. 1; 76. 1), only *râjabhata* seems to me to have a narrower meaning and to denote especially a mercenary soldier in the king’s army.
