What is to be understood by this expression, I cannot state exactly; it seems to indicate a special kind of posture, by which the holy man in question performs a vow, just as is the case with the 'cock-holies' mentioned by Oldenberg (Buddha p. 69) who pick out their food like cocks and behave always like cocks.
