² Acc. to Manu XI. 149, a Brāhmaṇa who had drunk water which had previously been drunk by a Śūdra, must drink kuśa water for three days and a Brāhmaṇa who had eaten the table leavings of a Śūdra or a woman must drink barley water for seven days (XI. 153).
