The starting-point of the Hindu political ideas is to be discovered in the collection of hymns and prayers forming the earliest literary monument of the Indo-Aryans, the Rigveda Saṁhitā. In this work is embodied a number of doctrines like the divinity of the king and the divine creation of the social classes, which formed later, in the Yajus Saṁhitās and the Brāhmaṇas, the basis of the earliest speculations of the Hindus concerning the phenomena of the State.
