1. The bow: This is the weapon κατ’ ἐξοχήν, for, as in the Veda, āyudha is both the general word for weapon and, without limitation, for the bow.‖ More specific names for this weapon are the commonly used words dhanus, cāpa, çarāsana, and (from their material) kārmuka, çārṅga.¶
