*Fines.* — We come now to the subject of fines, which were of various sorts, such as *tafāwat-i-asp* (deficiency in horses), *tafāwat-i-silāḥ* (deficiency in equipment), *tafāwat-i-tābīnān* (deficiency in troopers), also called, it would seem, *kamī-i-barādari*, *tawaqquf* o *‘adam-i-taṣḥīḥah* (non-verification), *saqatī* (casualties), *bartarafī* (rejections).
