In *Milindapañha* Alasaṇḍa is mentioned with China, Benares, Gandhāra and other countries²⁶ The *Mahāvaṃsa* refers to the town of Alasaṇḍa which was the chief city of the Yona territory²⁷ It is identified with the town of Alexandria founded by Alexander near Kabul in the Paropanisadae country²⁸
