There are seven kṣetras or zones in Jambudvīpa which is the first continent, and may correspond to Asia (India, according to Buddhists). They are Bharaha, Hemavaya,¹ Hari,² Videha, Rammaga, Heraṇṇavaya and Erāvaya.³ Bounding these zones are six mountain-ranges, viz., Himavata, Mahāhimavata, Niṣadha,⁴ Nīla, Rukmin and Sikharin.⁵ In the centre of Jambudvīpa is located Meru.⁶
