Damila was counted among the non-Aryan countries Magadha Mālava, Mahārāstra, Lāta, Karnātaka, Dravida, Gauda, Vidarbha and other countries are mentioned as places of origin of *desibhāsā* (regional language).¹⁸⁴ It is said that the maid-servants known as Dāmili were brought from this country.¹⁸⁵ Dāmili was also known as a script (*lipi*).¹⁸⁶
