It may be identified with Goli situated on the Gallaru, a tributary of the river Kistna in Guntur district. This was an important place in ancient India and here the inscriptions of the Ikṣvākus were recently discovered.²⁵³ The mention of Golla and Golācārya in the Sravanabelagolā inscriptions also testifies that this country was situated in South.²⁵⁴
