(1) Naggai, otherwise known as Sīharaha, ruled at Pundavaddhana in Gandhāra. It is mentioned that once the king Sīharaha reached a mountain and married a beautiful maiden, who was residing there in a palace. The king used to go to the mountain every fifth day to visit his spouse and hence he came to be known as Naggai (jamhā nage āu). In course of time, the king is said to have built a charming city on the mountain where he erected the Jain temples and ruled with justice. Later on Naggai renounced the world and attained final emancipation.¹²⁰
