It is said that Gaddabhilla, the father of Vikramāditya, ruled at Ujjeni. He abducted the sister of Kālakācārya, who proceeded to Pārasakūla (Persia) and returned with ninety six kings (*sāha*), and declared war against Gaddabhilla. The kings of Lāta, who were also insulted by Gaddabhilla, are said to have joined them. In this war, Gaddabhilla lost and the kings from Persia were placed on the throne of Ujjeni.
