(iii) Take also the datum that the rainy season started in *Śrāvaṇa* (Śrāvaṇa-proshṭhapadayoścha Varshā), *i.e.*, in the author's time the rainy season began in Śrāvaṇa, unlike today when it begins in the middle of Āshāḍha. Now, season falls back about one day and a half every century:—
