v1.c4.17
Sec. 39 pp. 221-223 *Aṅgiras.* In the 2nd Act of the Mālatīmādhava (p. 104 of Bhandarkar’s edition) we have a prose quotation from Aṅgiras ‘गीतश्चायमर्थोङ्गििरसा यस्यां मनश्चक्षुषोर्निबन्धस्तस्यामृद्धिरिति’. In the Āpastambagṛhya (I. 3. 19-21) this is cited without name as the view of some ‘बन्धुशीललक्षणसंपन्नामरोगामुपयच्छेत । बन्धुशीललक्षणसंपन्नः श्रुतवानरोग इति वरसंपत् । यस्यां मनश्चक्षुषोर्निबन्धस्तस्यामृद्धिर्नेतरदाद्रियेतेत्येके’. It is not likely that Bhavabhūti who was a great scholar would commit a mistake and it is extremely probable that he had a sūtra of Aṅgiras before him.
