¹⁰⁴⁶ ताभ्यामनुज्ञातो भार्यामुपयच्छेत् सजातां नग्निकां ब्रह्मचारिणीमसगोत्राम् । हिरण्य. गृ. I. 19. 2; ‘नग्निकामासन्नार्तवाम् । ... तस्माद्वस्रविक्षेपणार्हा नग्निका मैथुनार्हेत्यर्थः’ मातृदत्त; ‘बन्धुमतीं कन्यामस्पृष्टमैथुनामुपयच्छेत ... यवीयसीं नग्निकां श्रेष्ठां ।’ मानवगृह्य I. 7. 8. Dr. Bhandarkar shows that in many Mss. of the Hir. gṛ. and as handed down by oral tradition among the vaīdikas of the Hir. śākhā the reading is सजातानग्निकां (i. e. the girl should be of the same caste and not a nagnikā).
