v3.c40.116
Certain articles were not to be eaten at certain stages only. For example, a brahmacārin was not to partake of honey, meat, and kṣāra-lavaṇa (vide Āp. Dh. S. I. 1. 4. 6, Mānava gṛ. I. 1. 12). But in danger of life he could eat even these (vide Medhātithi on Manu V. 27). Similarly a forest hermit and an ascetic were forbidden many things (which will be discussed later on). A Kṣatriya was not to drink *soma* juice (vide p. 140 above).
