¹⁹³⁰ 'Cleaning' (mārjana) is explained in Āśv. Śr. I. 8. 2. नारायण quotes 'परिस्तर णैरञ्जलिमन्तर्धायोप आसेचयते तन्मार्जनम्' (आश्व. श्रौ. I. 8. 2)—when he holds between his joined hands the kuśa grass spread round the fire altar and has water sprinkled over himself, that is mārjana.
