II. 2. 1-3. Nārāyaṇa explains that 'they' mean the sacrificer and his sons and other male descendants (who touch him). The word 'ni-rūpya' means that on the mess of cooked food, the two operations of nirvāpa (taking out a portion from the whole with the mantra पशुपतये त्वा जुष्टं निर्वपामि) and prokṣaṇa are to be performed and that the rest of the mess is to be eaten by the sacrificer and his family. पृषातक means 'milk mixed with clarified butter'. This is taken out with the *sruva* ladle. There is an offering to Sviṣṭakṛt Agni of the mess and of pṛṣātaka. खादिरगृह्य III. 3. 3 says पयस्यावनेयेद्वाज्यं तत्पृषातकम्; vide also गोभिलस्मृति (in verse) III. 106.
