It is desirable in the interest of the solidarity of the several Hindu castes and the rapid growth of progressive and advanced views that matters of practices, penances and restoration to caste should be in the hands of the bodies of learned men or the caste itself than in the hands of a single ascetic styling himself Śaṁkarācārya, who often happens to know nothing of dharmaśāstra and only puts his seal of approval on what interested persons that are round him say.
