²³¹⁸ According to Vaikhānasa the southern of the two burning coals is cast aside. Vide com. on Satyāṣāḍha I. 6. p. 133. According to Āp. I. 22. 2 the coal that is not cast away is placed to the south on the gārhapatya mound and thereon the first potsherd is laid.
