²⁵¹⁶ According to Kāt. VI. 7. 6 it is the foremost (or upper) joint (pūrvanaḍaka) of the left forefoot (that is taken) among the first nine. Kāt. VI. 7. 6. describes the first nine as jauhavam (to be offered with the juhū) and the next three as connected with upabhṛt ladle. The three cut into upabhṛt are called tryaṅga and are meant for Sviṣṭakṛt. Vide Śat. Br. III. 8. 3. 18 (S. B. E. Vol. 26 p. 205). The whole of the entrails are taken off at once and divided only at the time of cutting and putting into the juhū ladle.
