²⁶⁷⁰ The following quotations will illustrate the Pāriplava recital. X. 7. 1-2. In the Vedāntasūtra (III. 4. 23–24) the conclusion is stated that the ākhyānas (such as that of Pratardana and Indra in Kauṣītaki Up. III. 1, of Jānaśruti in Chān. Up. IV. 1. 1 and of Yājñavalkya and his wives in Bṛ. Up. IV 5. 1) in the Upaniṣads are not meant to be recited in the Pāriplava, since only certain legends alone are specified in the texts for that purpose.
