⁴¹⁷ अप्रसिद्धं निराबाधं निरर्थं निष्प्रयोजनम् । असाध्यं वा विरुद्धं वा पक्षाभासं विवर्जयेत् ॥ कात्यायन quoted by मिता. on या. II. 6 (without name), परा. मा. III. 61. The स्मृतिच. II. 37 ascribes the same verse to बृहस्पति (last pāda being पक्षं राजा विवर्जयेत्). Vide my notes to Kāt. 140 where it is shown how there is a good deal of divergence about the interpretation of this verse.
