v4.c63.t2.428
The question of an unchaste daughter's succession to strīdhana would be decided in the same way as her succession to her father's property. Under the Dāyabhāga an unchaste daughter will not succeed. But under the Mitākṣarā as interpreted by modern courts an unchaste daughter who is a kept mistress or a prostitute may succeed but only after virgin daughters or married daughters as the case¹⁵⁵⁶ may be. The Mit. on Yāj. II 290 relies upon the Skandapurāṇa for the proposition that prostitutes are a fifth caste descended from certain *apsarases*.¹⁵⁵⁷
