²³⁶ वृषली in मनु XI 177 is explained as चण्डाली by कुल्लूक and मिता on या III. 260, which quotes a smṛti verse 'चण्डाली बन्धकी वेश्या रजःस्था या च कन्यका। ऊढा या च सगोत्रा स्याद्वृषल्यः पञ्च कीर्तिता ॥' शूलपाणि understands वृषली as शूद्रा, vide Pr. Prakāśa folio 111 b for this difference.
