³⁹ ३९ यथा चोक्तं भर्त्सनात्ताडनाद्वाथार्थहरणादिना । परात्कोपयति प्रज्ञादि नृशस्तो ह्युच्यते बुधैः । त्यागं प्रहारेण हिंसांविदुर्महार्णवे । अत्र दृष्टा विनश्येत्तद् यश्चाहुस्तस्य सोऽपि चापि धर्मेण विपद्येत् । महाहिस्रः सविज्ञेयो ज्ञानिनामायुषोऽपहृत् ॥ तथा । ह्यतिनिर्बन्धेनवापि सुहृत्स्नेहान्वितेन वा । महाहिंस्रः सविज्ञेयो ज्ञानिनामायुषोऽपहृत् ॥ इति । The प्राय. वि. p. 57 ascribes the first verse to महाविष्णु- and the 2nd to बृहत्प्रचेतस् and cites two more verses of similar import from Bṛhaspati. The स्मृतिमु (प्राय.) p. 862 ascribes both verses to विष्णु and quotes similar verses from सुमन्तु. The verse अङ्गिरः is almost the same as अङ्गिरस् 173-4.
