v5.c72.332

If the adoptive or natural father dies, the adopted son has to observe āśauca for three days and for one day for the sapiṇḍas of any one of them. On the death of the son and the grandson of an adopted son, the sapiṇḍas of the natural father and the adoptive father have to observe āśauca for one day and *vice versa*. These rules apply if the son adopted is not a sapinḍa or samānodaka of the adopter, when he was in his family of birth. But if a sagotra sapinḍa or a samānodaka be adopted, then the āśauca is for ten or three days respectively.
