The Āp Śr. II. 12 provides ⁶⁹⁹ that Pavitreṣṭi should be performed by him who is desirous of *śuddhi* and that if one performs in each season the three *iṣṭis*, viz Vaiśvānari (to Agni Vaiśvānara), Vrātapati (to Agni Vratapati) and the Pavitreṣṭi one purifies ten generations (of his family).
