⁴⁶⁶ X 16.11 Sāyaṇa explains on the assumption that the word is kavyavāhana in this, while the Saṃhitā and the padapāṭha have kravyavāhana. The Vāj S. 19 65 and Tai S. II. 6 12 5 read 'kavyavāhanaḥ'. Here apparently at least the flesh-eating fire is admitted not only in the rites for the pitṛs but also in the rites for gods.
