Comparing the above rather elaborate and exhaustive procedure with the procedure of pratisaṁvatsarikaśrāddha as practised in Madras in these days only a few points of differences in detail emerge. In the Madras procedure the numerous mantras as set out above (p. 448) do not occur nor does the Tai. Ā. passage occur therein, but the verses in praise of the dust of brāhmaṇa's feet do occur. Most of the mantras both Vedic and Paurāṇic are the same. The blessings (āśīrvādas) in the Madras manual are more elaborate and include even the performer's cattle in the blessing of health and long life. In the Madras manual several mantras are set out as ‘annasūkta’ mantras in the procedure itself. The Madras paddhati adds at the end the well known verse ‘kāyena vācā manasendriyairvā’.
