¹⁶²⁹ The writer in Bom G. vol 20 translates the words पुण्डलीकवरदे हरि विठ्ठल as 'O! Pundalīka, grant us a boon, Hari Vitbal!'. This translation does not appear to me to be correct. The cry is also in the form 'पुण्डलीकवरदा हरि विठ्ठल' (which is the correct one). In my opinion हरि विठ्ठल is only a vocative and the correct form is पुण्डलीकवरदा (for वरद) and the whole cry means 'O Hari Vitthal' that didst grant a boon to Puṇḍalīka'. Mr A K. Priyolkar kindly pointed out to me an *abhanga* from श्री ज्ञानेश्वरमहाराजांची गाथा (ed. by Śrī Vināyakbuwā Sākhare, 1927) which runs as follows 'रखुमादेवीवरु तो। पुण्डलीकवरद तो गे बाई॥' (p 48) and another of Kānhopātrā (from 'Śrī-santa-gāthā' edited by Śrī Nānāmahārāja Sākhare, śake 1831) 'अगा पुण्डलीकवरदा । अगा विष्णू तूं गोविंदा॥' (p. 142)
