¹³⁹² आख्यानैश्चाप्युपाख्यानैर्गाथाभिः कल्पशुद्धिभिः। पुराणसंहितां चक्रे पुराणार्थविशारदः ॥ विष्णु III 6. 15, ब्रह्माण्ड II, 34. 21 (reads कल्पजोक्तिभिः), वायु 60 21 (reads कुलकर्मभिः). कल्पजोक्तिभिः would mean 'words or descriptions relating to Kalpas (vast periods of time)'. The com. on विष्णुपुराण explains 'स्वयं दृष्टार्थकथनं प्राहुरुपाख्यानकं बुधाः । श्रुतस्यार्थस्य कथनमुपाख्यानं प्रचक्षते ॥'
