Another rule (PMS I. 3. 10) about words is that²¹¹⁸ words, though of foreign origin, that are in vogue in Sanskrit, are to be understood in the sense which they have in the foreign language and one should not think of an attempt to derive them with the help of Nirukta and grammar. Śabara cites four such words viz pika (cuckoo), nema (half), tāmarasa (lotus), sata (circular wooden vessel).
