M S. III 7. 13-14 (तथा यूपस्य वेदि । देशमात्रं वाऽविधेयनिर्देश्यत्वात्) and the conclusion is that this text is not to be taken literally (since in that case there would be two propositions and the fault of Vākyabheda) but as merely indicating the region where the sacrificial post is to be planted.
