The Veda forbids the use of *varakas*, *kodravas* and *māṣas* as unfit for a sacrifice. If a person mistakenly takes māṣa grains or particles believing them to be mudga grains or particles and uses them in a sacrifice in which an oblation of boiled mudga pulse is prescribed, he will not be performing the desired rite as what is forbidden as unfit cannot be a substitute.²¹⁷²
